An Enchanted Tale

by Leonard I. Eckhaus

A modern fairy tale set in the Romanian village of Cojasca in the early 1900s. Grinza, a young Romani girl, is given a cherry tree on her fifth birthday and grows up dreaming of an orchard of her own. When a brutal winter threatens her ailing parents, she faces a painful choice. Along the way she is guided by a witch, Auntie Angelina, and a guru named Sylvanus. A story about kindness, family and perseverance, written for younger readers and to be read aloud.
